Character

Michael DelMastro
Character

There are many interesting and complex characters in this novel. The main character, Dennis Doyle, is a miserly, young man who has a bitter relationship with his father. He also runs into trouble with gambling. Father Seamus Murray O'Gara is a father figure to Denn and constantly tries to get him to do the right thing. Mark "Murray" Stein is Denn's easily impressed, best friend. Fredrick Doyle Jr. is Denn's father who left home when Denn was only fourteen to work in Hollywood as a script writer, which is why Denn is upset with his dad. Kelly Rollingate is Denn's girlfriend, who is worried about his gambling situation. Her mother Mrs. Rollingate is currently unsure whether Dennis is right for her daughter. Jason Hicks is the person who introduced Denn into gambling. These characters provide an appealing narrative and make you care about their problems.

    1. Denn's relationship with his father can be compared to the relationship between the united states of america and the U.N. as you should know the USA and the UN trade and are in a peace agreement, similar to how Denn and his father exchange small talk but Denn still, like america, will hold resentment for what has happened

    2. Denn meets gibby at the first poker game at Jason's house where he won a ton of money.

    3. Denn is saving up his money so as to buy the used camaro being sold for three thousand dollars. though because of his massive winnings he just goes and buy's a new Camaro.

    4. murky is the sort of guy who takes in insults, though ignores them.he doesn't listen to advice and let's just say he isn't the sharpest tool in the toolbox. he bet's most all of his money away trying to surpass his old friend Denn but loses and thereafter holds a lot of resentment as most people do towards Denn in the end of the book.

1.)Denn hates his father for leaving him and his mother, but still loves him cause he's his father and wants to see him. His father wants to spend time with Denn but he doesn't want to be with Denns mother anymore so he stays away.
10.)I think the ending with keep Denn away from his family, and all of his friends hate him since he seems to care more about poker and money then his friends.
